Analyze events

Tag specific events and then track them.

Events are interesting actions typically performed by the user while using the application. These may be things such as a changing settings, logging in, or reading an article. The events charts are used to understand which of these events users are performing and provide context around those events. Which articles are users reading? How long are they reading those articles? A well-tagged app should have around 30 events that provide information for the product team, the marketing team, and anybody else with an interest in the application.

For details and best practices, see Tagging Events.

For more information about events in general, see Analyzing Events.

  1. Navigate to Events.
  2. Compare events against each other to determine where you need to get more information.
    • Split by New vs Returning to understand what a user's first app experience is like
    • Split by Segments ro show what other events users who perform a certain action performed.
    • Change the metric between occurrences, users, and sessions to understand if all users are performing all events or if a minority of users are overrepresented.
  3. Select or search for an event to view in more detail.
  4. Change the metrics and modify the split as needed.
