Integrate your Android app with Localytics.

Before you begin

Localytics Android library version 2.65 is required for the new user-resettable, unique, anonymous advertising ID (GAID) provided by Google Play services. Localytics automatically collects the new advertising ID for advertising purposes, including improved attribution of new users to your advertising campaigns. Localytics will continue to collect the Android ID, which is still provided for non-advertising purposes.
Make sure to include Android v4 Support Library (revision 19.1.0 or greater) in your project. More information on support libraries can be found here.
If you are using push messaging or attribution for advertising campaigns, make sure to include Google Play Services in your project. More information on Google Play Services can be found here.

This guide outlines an automatic and a manual approach to integrating Localytics.

The goal of the automatic setup approach is to integrate Localytics into an app as quickly as possible, with minimal coding. The library will automatically handle Localytics push notifications and opening and closing sessions on various app lifecycle events. Because there are fewer opportunities to introduce developer error, you'll spend less time getting Localytics to work and more time making your app great.
Note: Android library 2.30+ is required for automatic integration.

If you'd prefer more control over the Localytics library, the manual setup approach lets you implement session opens and closes yourself. However, we recommend using the automatic approach until you're comfortable using Localytics.
