Users are end users who launch and use the app.
Depending on the data available, users may be identified just as unique devices or as true
users with customer-provided identifiers (such as an email address). Localytics tracks these
users and provides user counts in much the same way as session counts. Therefore, you can split
and filter charts by users in addition to other dimensions. You can get answers to the following
questions:
- How many of my users come back a week later?
- What platform do most users tend to use?
- When filtering for users in Germany, what time do they tend to use the app?
Note:
User counting can create some confusion. There are two areas that are especially tricky:
- New vs Returning: A user is only considered new during their first session. After this
they are a returning user.
- Duplicate Users: Users who return to the app a day later should be counted when looking at
daily usage but not when considering the two days together. Most analytics tools do not
account for this so users new to Localytics may be unfamiliar.
